Who works here?
The Pines is a multi-functional premises in Inverness, Highland. Several professionals and agencies connected with the autism spectrum in children are based in The Pines building. This includes the Highland Council and charities such as The National Autistic Society Scotland and Chip+. Staff at The Pines work across Highland with local colleagues, including NHS Highland staff and in partnership with parents.
What is offered at The Pines?
There are regular parent/carer support groups and a library with books and other library resources connected with autism. Staff at The Pines run training courses at the Pines in Inverness and in other areas in Highland.
The Pines and Autism strategy.
Implementation of the Autism Strategy for Highland (http://www.autismstrategyscotland.org.uk/) is led by The Pines in partnership with colleagues across Highland and with parents and carers. This is based on the vision of the 10 Year Autism Strategy for Scotland that
‘Individuals on the autism spectrum are respected, accepted and valued by their communities and have
confidence in services to treat them fairly so that they are able to have meaningful and satisfying lives’.
